Editorial

No Q&A this week as our scheduled band ghosted us harder than a dodgy sound engineer after load out. We’ll be back next week with more backstage confessions, wild gig tales, and enough sarcasm to fill a flight case.

In the meantime, we’ve got your gig calendar sorted and a drum legend under the spotlight.

Spotlight Q&A

This Week’s Feature Band: 😢

Essential Gear - Ludwig Supraphonic Snare Drum

Why we love it:
Because it’s the snare. The most recorded snare drum in history from John Bonham to Dave Grohl and for good reason. It cracks, it shimmers, it’s pure perfection in chrome.

What it does:
Delivers that legendary balance of bite, body, and brilliance. Whether you’re chasing stadium thunder or studio precision, this drum just sounds right.

Why it hurts:
It’ll cost you small fortune, but then again, greatness rarely comes cheap. Consider it an investment in tone, and a conversation starter for every drummer who sees it gleaming under stage lights.

Gig of the Week

Sergeant – Saturday, 1st November 2024, Saint Luke’s, Glasgow
They’re back. The Dunfermline lads who once soundtracked a thousand student nights return to Saint Luke’s with that signature jangly indie charm and a touch more grit. Expect nostalgia, big choruses, and a crowd that knows every word.

Best of the Rest

The Enemy – Thursday, 6th November, Barrowlands, Glasgow
Coventry’s finest bring their anthemic swagger back to the Barras. It’ll be sweaty, with singalongs, and a crowd that’ll remind you why this venue is still Scotland’s beating indie heart. Get along early to see Fife favourites The Shambolics in support.

Echobelly – Thursday, 6th November, Òran Mór, Glasgow
Britpop royalty take over Òran Mór with sharp hooks and Sonya Madan’s unmistakable vocals. For anyone still chasing that 90s glow, this one’s a must.
