Essential Gear - LP Jam Block (Red)
Why we love it
The LP Jam Block is basically a woodblock for the modern drummer only tougher, louder, and built to last. It’s made from LP’s super-durable “Jenigor” material, which means you can whack it night after night and it’ll never crack. It cuts through any mix with a bright, punchy tone that grabs attention without sounding cheesy.
What it does
Mount it on a clamp or L rod, stick it by your hi-hat or ride, and you’ve got instant accents. Great for breakdowns, grooves, or adding that postpunk funk texture.
Best for
Drummers who want to spice up their kit with something unexpected. Perfect in indie, funk, ska, experimental, or even heavy rock settings.
Try it if you like
Percussive flair that stands out, Talking Heads style grooves, or just having a sound in your setup that makes bandmates ask, “Wait what was that?”
Gig of the Week
AC/DC – Thursday 21st August, Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh
The thunder(struck) from down under return. Angus, Brian & co. hit Edinburgh with riffs loud enough to rattle the city. Expect cannons, fire, and the biggest rock anthems ever written. More than a gig it’s a pilgrimage.
Best of the Rest
Greg Pearson – Friday 22nd August, The Poetry Club, Glasgow
Scotland’s breakout voice in an intimate space. His soaring vocals are arena ready, catch him up close while you still can.
Chappell Roan – Tuesday 26th August, Edinburgh Summer Sessions, Royal Highland Showgrounds
Pop’s rising icon brings glitter, spectacle, and unapologetic energy. Big hooks, big outfits Chappell is claiming the spotlight.
